Sea Salt and Black Pepper Oatcakes

These delicious little Sea salt and Black Pepper Oatcakes are a great base for snacks and are so tasty just on their own. Crunchy and full of nutty wholesome flavor, when combined with healthy toppings they become nutritious and filling.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 ½ cups oats
  • ½ cup plain wholemeal bread flour
  • ½ stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¾ cup hot water, not boiling

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl place the oats, wholemeal flour, sea salt and freshly ground black pepper and mix well.
  • Pour the melted butter into a glass jug and add the hot (not boiling) water to it and stir to mix well.
  • Pour the wet ingredients (melted butter and hot water) into the dry ingredients (oats, flour, salt and pepper) and combine well to form a soft dough.
  • Dust your work surface with wholemeal flour and roll out the dough to your desired thickness, mine around around 5mm.
