💡 Tips for Making Chicken Souvlaki

    • Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F on a meat thermometer for perfectly cooked, juicy pieces.
    • Preheat the air fryer before adding the skewers to ensure even cooking and a beautiful golden finish on the chicken.
    • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer, so you may want to cook the skewers in batches if needed to avoid steaming the chicken.

Can I Use Chicken Thighs Instead of Chicken Breasts?

Absolutely! Chicken thighs are just as flavorful and will stay juicy in the air fryer.

How do I keep the chicken from drying out?

The key is to make sure you don’t overcook the chicken. Use a meat thermometer to ensure it’s cooked to 165°F.

Can I Grill the Skewers Instead of Using an Air Fryer?

Sure! Grill them on medium-high heat, turning occasionally, for about 10-12 minutes.

What if I Don’t Have Skewers?

No problem! Lay the marinated chicken pieces directly in the air fryer basket.

Can I Freeze the Marinated Chicken?

Yes, you can freeze the chicken in the marinade for up to 3 months. Thaw before skewering and cooking.

This is the BEST chicken souvlaki we've ever had, and we have many Greek restaurants in our area. My DH has asked me to make this over and over since I first tried it. We make it with boneless, skinless chicken thighs and don't make skewers out of them. I make extra, dice it up and stir it into a dollop of Duke's mayo for an amazing chicken salad the next day!

I’m so glad you both loved the chicken souvlaki! It means a lot to hear that it’s a favorite, especially with so many Greek restaurants nearby. Using chicken thighs sounds delicious, and I love the idea of turning the leftovers into chicken salad with Duke’s...such a great tip! Thanks so much for sharing!
