Who could have guessed that a tub of cottage cheese could turn into something this fresh, flavorful, and downright addictive? Once it’s whipped with lemon, garlic, and a handful of herbs, it takes on a light, creamy texture that’s hard to stop dipping into. It’s the kind of snack you can pull out for last-minute guests but will also want to keep in the fridge just for you.

I love how fast it comes together, and how well it holds up like heavier dips. It tastes so fresh and bright, with the perfect amount of punchiness from the garlic and lemon. Scoop it with veggies, crackers, or whatever’s within reach because it’s truly delicious with almost everything.

    💡 Tips

    • Use full-fat cottage cheese for the creamiest result and better flavor.
    • Blend for the full 3 to 4 minutes to get a whipped texture instead of a grainy one.
    • Stop to scrape down the sides a few times so everything blends evenly.
    • Use a microplane to grate the garlic so you don’t get any raw chunks.
    • Always zest the lemon before juicing. It’s much easier that way.
    • Chill the dip for 15 to 20 minutes if you want the flavors to mellow and blend.

    ☑️ Storage Instructions

Store leftover dip in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Give it a good stir before serving if it has been sitting. I do not recommend freezing it. The texture will not hold up well.

🍴 Delicious Ways To Enjoy Cottage Cheese Dip

    • Dip: Serve it with chips, crackers, veggies or warm naan or flatbread.
    • Grain bowls: Dollop onto grain bowls for a creamy, tangy addition that pairs well with roasted veggies or grilled chicken.
    • Sandwiches: Spread on a wrap or sandwich (made with Homemade Brioche) in place of mayo for a herby, garlicky upgrade.
    • Baked potatoes: Spoon it over these Air Fryer Baked Potatoes or Sweet Potatoes as an easy way to add flavor and protein.
    • Toast: Use as a base for avocado toast (great with this Homemade Keto Bread) and top with tomatoes, cucumbers, or a fried egg.
    • Protein topping: Serve with Grilled Beef Kebabs or fish as a light, lemony sauce that cools everything down.
    • Pita: Layer it in a veggie-packed pita with peppers, cucumbers, sprouts, and olives.
    • Pasta: Stir a spoonful into cooked pasta with extra herbs for a fast, no-cook creamy sauce.

    🔄 Substitutions and Additions

    • Herbs: Swap parsley for basil or cilantro for a new flavor twist.
    • Heat: Add a little crushed red pepper if you like a bit of heat.
    • Yogurt: Mix in a spoonful of Greek yogurt to stretch the dip and lighten it further.
    • Med-style: Stir in chopped olives or sun-dried tomatoes for a Mediterranean vibe.
    • Oniony dip: Skip the dill and double the chives for a mild, oniony take.
    • Presentation: Serve in a hollowed-out bell pepper or small bowl surrounded by rainbow veggies.

Why is My Dip Grainy Instead of Creamy?

It likely wasn’t blended long enough or your blender isn’t strong enough. Keep blending and scrape the sides as needed.

Can I Make This Dip Ahead of Time?

Yes, it’s even better after a short rest in the fridge. The flavors blend and mellow out nicely.

What Can I Use If I Don’t Have Fresh Herbs?

You can use dried herbs in a pinch, but cut the amount in half since they’re more concentrated.

Does It Taste Like Cottage Cheese?

Not really! The lemon, garlic, and herbs take over and the texture becomes smooth and dip-like.
